Like most men, Frank Miceli didn’t go food shopping until his cupboards were completely bare. So naturally that meant he had a full cart of grocery bags to get from the supermarket to his trunk and from his trunk either up the flights of stairs or to the elevator in order to get to his apartment. He DREADED this task! It was easier to just put all the bags up his arms and carry all of them up at once rather than have to keep going back and forth to the lobby to bring up his bags. Frank’s 90 year old Italian neighbor said, in broken English, “Frank, you need to get one of these,” pointing to her metal shopping cart. Frank thought to himself…”There’s got to be an easier way, because I don’t want one of these!!” ….That was when The Shopper’s ToteTM was born!
Frank went to his workshop and created a wooden mock-up of his vision for The Shopper’s ToteTM. Next he engaged his friend, architect Alan Garry, and Alan suggested beam construction to utilize less plastic providing more strength and durability. A template was created leading to the first iteration of The Shopper’s ToteTM.
In 1994, Frank and his family went to Las Vegas and attended their first of many Las Vegas trade shows to share their product with the retail industry. They were completely overwhelmed by the response from participants and vendors alike.
Since then, many iterations of The Shopper’s ToteTM have been created to bring the current model to market.
Today, The Shopper’s ToteTM family continues their mission to nurture the shopping experience and to provide quality product to shoppers young and old alike.
